So the iPhone 5S is now official and here’s what we know about the latest new-generation iPhone 5S from tonights keynote. More information will be available shortly on Apples website. UPDATE: More info at the link below.
Colours: Available in black, gold and white.
Processor: The iPhone 5S is the worlds first and only 64-bit smartphone featuring the new 64-bit A7 processor.
Graphics: The iPhone 5S features OpenGL 3.0 for super smooth and fast graphics.
Battery Life: iPhone 5S Battery Life offers 10 hours of 3G talk time, 250 hours standby, 10 hours LTE browsing and 40 hours music playback.
Camera: The new camera has a 5-element Apple designed lens with f/2.2 aperture.15 percent larger active sensor area. iOS 7 automatically sets white balance, exposure level and creates a dynamic local tone map. There’s image stabilization, as well as burst mode. Hold the shutter button down and you can snap up to 10 frames a second. The camera also features a new”truetone” camera flash for better low light and white-balanced photography.
Video: The iPhone 5S can capture HD 720p video at 120 fps. You can go in and select which parts of the video you want in normal speed, and which parts you want in slo-mo.
Fingerprint sensor: Apple are calling it “Touch-ID”. This is integrated in the iPhone 5S home button. Apple calim your fingerproint is never stored on Apple servers or backed up to iCloud. That’s great!
Pricing & Availability: Pricing is $199, $299 $399 for 16GB, 32GB and 64GB respectively, on a 2 year contract in the US. No news yet on prepaid pricing or overseas pricing. iPhone 5S (& 5C) is available September 20th in US, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore and the UK (first wave). By December 2013, it will be available in more than 100 countries (that probably means us South Africans).
