This tutorial will show you how to run *ahem* certain AppStore app’s *ahem* such as “Decoder” on your jailbroken device, by installing a simple tweak. Read below for the full details. The reason you are reading this is probably for the most common app that starts with a D and ends with a V. And displays TV (got it yet?). In case you’re wondering why we are speaking all funny – We can’t say that name here apparently , but i’m sure you catch our “Drift“. Ahhh.
* While we have personally not tested this tweak yet, we have received reports that this app IS WORKING work on the LATEST versions of the “Decoder” app mentioned above to bypass jailbreak detection, and also displays TV in the above-mentioned app.
I was recently made aware of an awesome jailbreak tweak which goes by the name of “xCon” (thanks David). Not sure how I missed this before!
xCon allows users to run apps downloaded from the AppStore on jailbroken devices, that would otherwise automatically close themselves, shortly after displaying a message such as “Jailbroken Device is not supported“. Such as the message from the “That which cannot be named” app in the picture above.
This leaves jailbroken iDevice owners with little options (none of which are really desirable).
– revert to a non-jailbroken state,
– download a patched version of the app which are few and far (and which sometimes don’t even exist for newer versions of the app),
– or simply go without the app – not great if you’ve just spent cash on a R600 DVB-H TV tuner device for example, and cant run the iOS App because of this stupid check!
… Until now!
That’s where xCon comes to the rescue!
[How To] Bypass Jailbreak Detection in Certain AppStore Apps (e.g. Decoder Apps) on a Jailbroken iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch –
It couldn’t be simpler! Simply fire up Cydia, search for “xCon” available in the default Modmyi repo and which is FREE, install it, and try and fire up your favourite “Decoder” app again. As you will notice, and see in the screenshots below, no more Jailbreak detection error message, and no app quit!! Hallelujah!
So what are you waiting for? Give it a try with your favourite app ;) and let us know your experiences in the comments below!
The tweak also supports the following apps:
AlwaysOnPC, Bloomberg Anywhere, Bright House, Cablevision, Cisco M-Learning, Cox iPad, DirecTV iPad, Flixster, Golden Cinema, Good For Enterprise, Grimm’s Fairy Tale apps, Hanabank, KB starPlus, Maxis Movies, Samsungcard, Time Warner Cable, TV d’Orange, Verizon OnDemand/FlexView
