This post will show you how to jailbreak your iOS 8.0 – iOS 8.1 device, using the Pangu jailbreak tool.
If you are not already on the latest iOS 8.1 version, then we suggest upgrading to this latest version using the download links here.
If you used Software Update to update your device (OTA), it is recommended to restore to a fresh iOS 8.1 using iTunes, as this can cause problems with the jailbreak otherwise.
NOTE: Pangu is blocked in iOS 8.1.1 which is yet to be released. Once this is released, and you have updated to iOS 8.1.1, there is no going back. If you wish to jailbreak now or in the future, make sure you update and stay on iOS 8.1.
How to Jailbreak iOS 8.1 using Pangu
Create an iPhoneZA folder on your desktop. Download the latest version of Pangu into this folder. If your download is a zip file, you must extract it to this folder.
Proceed to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode and Turn Passcode Off if it is enabled.
Proceed to Settings > iCloud > Find My iPhone. Turn Find My iPhone Off if it is enabled.
Proceed to Settings and enable Airplane Mode by tapping the switch to turn it on.
Connect your iPhone to your computer via USB, and perform a backup in iTunes. This is very important as if something goes wrong with the jailbreak process, you may lose your data if you do not backup.
Open the Pangu executable you downloaded in Step One from the iPhoneZA folder.
Once your device is detected by the software, click the blue Start Jailbreak button to begin jailbreaking your device.
Confirm you have followed all the recommended steps, and that your device is in Airplane Mode. Once you have done this you may click the Already Did button to continue.
Wait until the jailbreak process has successfully completed.
You should now see a Pangu and Cydia app on your home screen on your device. Congratulations, you have successfully jailbroken your device!
